UB Green Energy Trust Fund will have an exhibition at the Green Market Exposition, Wed 21st.

The event will have Opening Remarks by Mayor Bill Finch, and runs from 10am-4pm, at the Barnum Museum. Panel Discussions will cover issues such as shopping green, adopting green habits, and greening businesses.

Green Energy companies and organizations will be showcasing their exhibits at this very important event.

UB Green Energy Trust Fund founder Travis Deaton will be participating in the panelist discussion towards the end of the event.

A One Year Commitment of the UB Green Energy Trust Fund

Supported by the Clinton Global Initiative University Student Club

In the face of harsh economic times, the City of Bridgeport's mayor, Mayor Bill Finch, has made energy efficiency and sustainability a prime focus in his first term of office. City wide projects have been drawn up, completed, and planned, but it is unclear how many of the current projects are going to be effected as the City fights for a piece of the $600 million appropriated for the State of Connecticut in the recent Stimulus Bill. Now is a golden opportunity for the University of Bridgeport to step forward as a leader in the Greater Bridgeport community in the energy-efficient, sustainable future economy of tomorrow.

Funded by the UB Green Energy Trust Fund, and supporting Foundations and Endowments with a focus interest in green energy technology, the UB Green Roof Project would lower heating/cooling costs of the Wahlstrom Library, and position University of Bridgeport of leadership for a more energy efficient future. The UB Wahlstrom Library is the obvious selection for the Fund, and stands to be a great example of 'innovation towards savings' for the City of Bridgeport.

GreenGrid is a leading Green Roof Company operating in Connecticut and across the United States. The GreenGrid modular system technology aims to boost a buildings environmental and economic performance. The hallmarks of this system are the simplicity and the flexibility of installation and maintenance. This system was designed by engineering, roofing, and horticulture experts, and is the product of years in testing and research.

Goal:

To reduce the Universities environmental impact

Lower Energy Costs,

Increase Efficiency

Aim:

Raise funds from individual donors, and

from Foundations with green technology interests

These funds would cover the cost of installation, a 20 year Warranty, and one month upkeep phase. Further costs cumulated by continued maintenance would be paid by either a Revolving Fund, which would be built by energy savings attributed to the Green Roof system, or would be paid through the current process in place.

The UB Green Energy Trust Fund is a Clinton Global Initiative University Commitment Project that aims to raise the funds needed to renovate University of Bridgeport facilities with proven green technologies. The Fund cumulates this money through several avenues, including but not limited to:

Fundraising
Grants
Tax Incentives
Money Donations
Material Donations
Revolving Funds

The Fund is a working partnership between University Faculty and University Students, aimed to improve the quality of life on campus, lower environmental impact of Connecticut's fastest growing University, and works to educate students and the public of the energy efficiency, conservation, and inovative solutions.

As the City of Bridgeport continues to see through large scale green renovation in an effort to stimulate its economy and attractiveness, so too is University of Bridgeport renovating in an effort to catch up to modern standards. The UB Green Energy Trust Fund aspires to be an intricate component in the Universities efforts to modernize.
